for as long as i can remember, i have always been an early adopter. i love being in the know, and trying new things. i am the ultimate consumer and am the best target for an ad promising vitality & longevity. since i’ve tried it all, today i’m sharing my curated list of essentials. i’ve recently cut way back on the level of consumption in the form of supplements so these are the best of the best. less really is more, at least in this department.

first off, why did i cut back? really, no other reason than just a gut feeling. so, last summer i tested cutting back on everything except a few essentials on vacation thinking i would feel different. when nothing changed, i extended this cut back indefinitely. being the consumer that i am, i have tested and tried new things since, but only a handful have stuck. it can quickly get out of control and expensive keeping up with every trend in the wellness world.
these are the essentials that i take daily that made the cut:
probiotics - i have taken this pre + probiotic for a solid 10 years. the company has re-branded, changed names, and i’ve stayed loyal. not sure if i can attribute my gut of steel fully to these, but we’re not going to find out otherwise. highly recommend.
berberine - as soon as i heard about these on a podcast coined as “nature’s ozempic” i was all in. call me vain, but sign me up any day for ozempic sans the risky side effects. berberine works by regulating your blood sugar levels & increases satiety.
fish oil - i take these for their anti-inflammatory benefits. reducing inflammation in the body reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes & arthritis.
turmeric - also known for its anti-inflammatory properties. i don’t take this daily anymore, but as needed after traveling or eating out often. i became a bit obsessed with reducing inflammation in the body after reading up on all of the benefits.

creatine & amino acids - i talked about these two in a previous post, but if you take anything from my substack please try them. i will tell any woman i know about these in combination with weight training. i’m a believer. life changing.
colostrum - no one wanted to believe me about this one. trust me, i haven’t been sick in months. the best immune support out there, plus an energy booster and gut healer. what more do you need?
one multi-vitamin - this one covers all of the basic vitamins like B, C, D, E & more. i’m all about efficiency and knowing i’m covering the essentials. kudos to my husband for finding this one.
and lastly, my night time elixir. i sleep like a baby when i take this mix: magnesium, l-theanine & ashwaganda.
this is what has worked for me, i’m not a doctor so consult yours before you try something new.
am i missing anything? tell me in the comments.
xx,
austin
